De L'or Cakery Gives Back
As a professional Sugar Artist here at De L’or Cakery Corporation, something that I am incredibly passionate about is the program that my team and I have established with the sole purpose of giving back to the community. I have done a lot thus far within this program, such as raising funds, volunteer teaching, and years of cupcake donating. Each time I partake in these events, it brings me great unparalleled pleasure, knowing that I am contributing to society in a positive way.
For the last four years, I have been donating my signature cupcakes to the Hey There Beautiful Incorporated Feed the Homeless event, and avidly donate to both the City Island Girl Scout Troops and City Island Latin Night. In addition, I have spent 90 minutes every Monday at the Harlem Renaissance School in East Harlem, New York, to voluntarily teach Sugar Artistry for middle school at-risk youth. To help these kids more, in just this past year, I have raised $1,150 during a Facebook Fundraiser, which paid for all the supplies needed for them to prosper.
Latterly, I established a GoFundME to raise money to make cupcakes and food for Essential Workers. The result from that effort ended with me being able to deliver five dozen cupcakes to the emergency room staff at Jacobi Hospital. In addition to this recent activity, at the beginning of 2020, I hosted a Sugar Artist Meetup. I coordinated all the logistics of the event, including securing the event space, establishing the small fee, and getting two Food Network Cake Competitors to partake in sugar sharing.
Giving back to the community is at the heart of my business and my personal aspiration in life. Being able to leverage my abilities to improve the lives of others and brighten someone’s day is a pure joy that keeps me and my team motivated to do more. Our community deserves to be supported, and here at De L’or Cakery Corporation, we will always be an advocate for that mission.
